Electronics Engineer III

This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria. </span></p><p> </p><p><strong>Join Our Team as an Electronics Engineer III!</strong></p><p style="text-indent:.5in;">The Technology & Breakthrough Innovation (TBI) group located in Chicago, IL, Alameda, CA, and Franklin, WI is responsible for driving the major innovations to support S&C’s global growth. TBI includes six functional teams covering the spectrum of S&C’s technology and application needs, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary, breakthrough concept development. TBI team also continues to advance the adoption of new and innovative technology into S&C’s new product portfolio. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager - Electronics Hardware. </p><p style="text-indent:.5in;"> </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Explore, develop, and champion new or emerging technologies required to meet the evolving needs of protection and control equipment used in the power distribution industry. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Develop innovative electronic products, sensors and techniques that enable complex, intelligent grid solutions. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Prepare design specifications, hardware test plans, and design documentation. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Design, simulate and troubleshoot digital, analog, mixed-signal circuits. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Program, test and debug embedded systems that may include FPGAs, CPUs, DSPs, and peripherals. Analog circuits that may include high precision circuits for signal conditioning and processing, or both. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Conduct DFMEA and worst-case analyses, including extreme value analysis (EVA) and Root Sum Squares (RSS) analysis, </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Provide guidance and mentoring to lower-level professionals, including student interns. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Occasionally travel up to one week. </li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>What you’ll Need To Succeed:</strong></p><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;"> BS degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Science/Engineering required. MS/PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering a plus. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience with analog, digital, mixed signal circuits. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Experience with high-speed circuit board design with digital and mixed-signal circuitry. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Modeling and simulation of power and signal integrity of high-speed digital signals is a plus. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Experience with embedded systems, including ARM processors, is desirable. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Experience with high precision analog circuits used for signal conditioning and processing, including filters, amplifiers, ADC, DAC, and power electronics is desirable. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Experience in writing C/C++, Verilog/VHDL and Python scripts is desirable. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Proficiency with relevant lab instrumentation (scopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, other); experience with LabView is a plus. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Proficient in one or more schematic capturing, simulation, and analytical tools such as Orcad, Cadence Capture, ModelSim, PSPICE, Cadence Sigitry and MATLAB. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Motivation and personal organization to achieve high productivity with minimal direct supervision. </li><li style="tab-stops:list .5in;">Excellent verbal and written communications skills. </li></ul><p style="margin-left:.25in;"> </p><p style="text-indent:.25in;">S&C Electric is committed to equal-opportunity employment.
